Hanoverian
The Hanoverian and Hessian armies had originally been moved to Britain to to help repel any potential invasion by the French, but they were sent back in 1756. Hanover was then invaded by the French army in 1757, overrunning most of Hanover and forcing the army to retreat north. With both armies diminished and winter approaching, the British sent reinforcements and by spring 1758, under a new commander, the Allied forces had driven the French out of Hanover and pushed them back across the River Rhine.
